Working visits to US TenCate companies

Traditionally August is a slow month in Washington as most of the city leaves for the summer recess, but this gives members of the American Congress the chance to visit the companies in their constituencies. Within this context TenCate Advanced Armour in Ohio and TenCate Protective Fabrics and TenCate Geosynthetics in Georgia played host to their Congress representatives. Working visits of this nature provide an excellent opportunity to bring matters of interest to the notice of Washington.

4 work visit pat tiberi

TenCate Advanced Armour got the ball rolling, hosting Congressman Pat Tiberi (OH-12) at their Hebron (Ohio) facility. The Congressman was briefed on the military programmes and platforms that the company’s lightweight protection solutions support. After touring the manufacturing facility, Pat Tiberi spoke to a cross section of employees and fielded their questions.

4 work visit lynn westmoreland

Less than 24 hours later the TenCate Protective Fabrics yarn spinning plant in Senoia (Georgia) welcomed Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (GA-3). He is no stranger to TenCate and has previously toured the Zebulon weaving plant. This time he hosted a manufacturing round table for a number of companies from his district to discuss pertinent issues.

4 work visit doug collins

Completing the trifecta of congressional visits, Congressman Doug Collins (GA-9) paid a call on the headquarters and non-woven manufacturing plant of TenCate Geosynthetics in Pendergrass (Georgia). He has represented this district for less than nine months and the tour was his first opportunity to see the geosynthetics activities of TenCate at first hand. Through the visit and the question-and-answer session with employees, he gained a better understanding of the challenges manufacturers face in his district, which will stand him in good stead as he deals with pressing economic issues in Washington.

Coordinating such working visits is a key function of the Office of Public and Government Relations of TenCate in the Capitol. Forums like these are crucial to ensuring the concerns of TenCate resonate in Washington.
