Process optimization TenCate Advanced Composites USA

TenCate Advanced Composites USA has relocated its Benicia (California) manufacturing site to a newly renovated facility in Fairfield (California), 75 km northeast of San Francisco. Here the 100 or so colleagues working formerly at three adjacent facilities in the more southwesterly situated Benicia has more than 6,000 m² (65,000 sf) of working space under one roof at their disposal.

This consolidation means that the operational management can be optimalized, the product quality and cost-efficiency can be further improved, and the expected growth in the composites and aerospace market can be supported. The TenCate Advanced Composites group also has a second prepreg production facility, as well as its US headquarters, in Morgan Hill (California).

There are a number of reasons for consolidating the three facilities at one location. ‘We are continuing to grow and see a sustained market for our composite materials and parts, hence our need for expansion,’ says Michael Cichon (director of product marketing). ‘And the new facility will enable us to combine our production, quality control and management teams under one roof,’ adds Paul Draghi (vice-president of operations). ‘This will yield operational efficiencies and improved product quality. Morgan Hill and Fairfield are now world-class sites with matching capabilities. This makes customers want to do business with TenCate.’
