TPRC welcomes four new partners

DTC, Instron, Pinette Emidecau Industries and Italmatic have joined the ThermoPlastic Composites Research Centre (TPRC) in The Netherlands. The TPCR is an open innovation centre dedicated to research and development of thermoplastic composites.  The centre started in 2009 as a collaboration between Boeing, Fokker, Ten Cate and the University of Twente. The addition of the new partners will accelerate the research and development of thermoplastic composites for various markets. Potential applications for thermoplastic composites can be found in the aerospace, automotive, wind energy, marine and construction markets.

GreenFields helps deliver 2012 Olympic legacy strategy with dual use artificial turf pitch

As part of the 2012 London Olympics and 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games legacy strategy, GreenFields have installed a new dual use artificial turf pitch certified for both Rugby and Football usage. Following the legacy strategy, pitches can still be used after the Olympic Games. The new pitch, which is only the third of its kind in Scotland, will serve the local rugby and football clubs as well as providing access for numerous smaller community clubs and local schools.

'State visit UAE and Oman offers many business opportunities'

TenCate Defender™ M benefits from permanent waiver granted by US Congress for the use of FR rayon fibers

The United States Congress eliminated future restrictions in the recently approved Fiscal Year 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), for the use of FR (flame-resistant) rayon fiber by the US military. FR rayon fiber is exclusively used in a unique fiber blend for the TenCate Defender™ M fabric portfolio. This FR rayon fiber is not available in the United States.
A ‘sunset clause’ in a waiver included in the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) allowed the use of imported FR rayon fibers in protective fabrics for US Military uniforms, but this authority would expire in January 2013. The US Congress extended this expiration to 2015 in the 2011 NDAA.

TenCate enters market for protection against road side bombs

On March 4, 2011 TenCate issued a press release announcing its cooperation with the Danish company ABDS ApS for the development and market preparation of the TenCate ABDS™ active blast countermeasure system, a system for the protection of army vehicles against improvised explosive devices and roadside bombs. With reference to the above press release, TenCate herewith announces an agreement with the shareholders to acquire all the shares of ABDS ApS, which will be integrated into the TenCate company as Ten Cate Active Protection ApS. Full ownership by TenCate effectively supports a timely international market introduction through producers of army vehicles in order to substantially increase the survivability protection levels of vehicles used in crisis areas. The acquisition shall be completed once Danish authorities have approved the transaction, which approval is expected shortly.

New football pitch marks a new start in Afghanistan

The U.S. Army have transformed Kabul’s former Olympic Stadium with the installation of a GreenFields’ artificial turf pitch. The refurbished stadium in the capital city of Afghanistan symbolizes progress as NATO forces increasingly withdraw from this country and, in particular, will also help to encourage women’s football in Afghanistan.

TenCate Advanced Armour delivers protective armour for Danish frigates

TenCate Advanced Armour has completed the delivery of ballistic protection systems for the second of three Danish Iver Huitfeldt frigates. Due to the modular approach by TenCate to the production of armour solutions, this was achieved before schedule and below budget. There was close collaboration with the Danish Defence Acquisition & Logistic Organisation.

TenCate Advanced Composites receives quality certification

TenCate Advanced Composites announces that both of its North American prepreg facilities in Morgan Hill and Fairfield are now AS9100:2009 Rev C quality certified. This certification also covers CCS Composites, a wholly owned subsidiary of TenCate focused on providing the aerospace industry with compression molded parts. These North American aerospace prepreg facilities of TenCate were previously certified to AS9100:2009 Rev B.

Dutch space pouches travel with André Kuipers to International Space Station

On Wednesday, 21 December 2011 a set of Dutch space pouches will travel into space with the Dutch ESA astronaut André Kuipers to the International Space Station. Schonenborg Space Engineering bv in Noordwijk (NL) and TenCate Protective Fabrics in Nijverdal have arranged for the optimal transport and double protection of the sensitive, scientific hardware to be used by André Kuipers.
