    TenCate composite materials replace titanium for Orion space capsule heatshield and backshell structure

    TenCate Advanced Composites North America, a leading global composite materials company for space and aerospace applications, has developed and provided heat resistant composites for the heat shield and backshell structure of the Lockheed Martin Orion multi-purpose crew vehicle, successfully launched this week. The suite of advanced materials of TenCate in this space capsule replaces the traditional titanium solution for re-entry and splashdown requirements, while saving weight and cost. The composite heat shield design allows very large composite structures to be fabricated out of autoclave.

    TenCate Advanced Armour has secured an order from the Danish Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) for ballistic protection of the Iver Huitfeldt class frigates and Absalon class support ships of the Royal Danish Navy. The armour systems to be supplied will provide a fully engineered, lightweight solution for the protection of mission-critical areas of the Navy ships. The modular armour kits will be supplied and installed on the ships over the next months. No financial details will be provided.

    TenCate Grass intensifies cooperation with Johan Cruyff Foundation

    Since its inception in 1997 the Johan Cruyff Foundation has evolved into an organization that day after day gets youngsters moving and keeps them active. In the seventeen years of the Foundation’s existence the need to get children moving has only increased. That is why in recent years the Foundation’s target group has expanded from children with a handicap to children living in districts where there is little opportunity to play outdoors. There is often too little time, space and attention for children to play sports and games.
    The social relevance of this is greater than ever, as sports & games make a real difference in issues such as health, integration, development and participation: Getting youngsters moving again, in a healthy and responsible way.

    Construction of the new £7 million Wolves Academy & Arena with TigerTurf indoor 3G pitch began during the summer of 2013, as the Club prepared for what turned out to be a title-winning Sky Bet League One campaign. This carried on the Club’s proud tradition of bringing through talented young players to graduate as full-time professional footballers, with the Academy having previously produced international players such as Robbie Keane, Matt Murray, Keith Andrews and Joleon Lescott.
