On March 4, 2011 TenCate issued a press release announcing its cooperation with the Danish company ABDS ApS for the development and market preparation of the TenCate ABDS™ active blast countermeasure system, a system for the protection of army vehicles against improvised explosive devices and roadside bombs. With reference to the above press release, TenCate herewith announces an agreement with the shareholders to acquire all the shares of ABDS ApS, which will be integrated into the TenCate company as Ten Cate Active Protection ApS. Full ownership by TenCate effectively supports a timely international market introduction through producers of army vehicles in order to substantially increase the survivability protection levels of vehicles used in crisis areas. The acquisition shall be completed once Danish authorities have approved the transaction, which approval is expected shortly.

The U.S. Army have transformed Kabul’s former Olympic Stadium with the installation of a GreenFields’ artificial turf pitch. The refurbished stadium in the capital city of Afghanistan symbolizes progress as NATO forces increasingly withdraw from this country and, in particular, will also help to encourage women’s football in Afghanistan.

GreenFields has successfully installed their first dual use synthetic turf pitches in India and China. Both fields have been certified by FIFA. The one in China is also certified by the IRB.

TenCate Advanced Armour has completed the delivery of ballistic protection systems for the second of three Danish Iver Huitfeldt frigates. Due to the modular approach by TenCate to the production of armour solutions, this was achieved before schedule and below budget. There was close collaboration with the Danish Defence Acquisition & Logistic Organisation.

On Wednesday, 21 December 2011 a set of Dutch space pouches will travel into space with the Dutch ESA astronaut André Kuipers to the International Space Station. Schonenborg Space Engineering bv in Noordwijk (NL) and TenCate Protective Fabrics in Nijverdal have arranged for the optimal transport and double protection of the sensitive, scientific hardware to be used by André Kuipers.
