    TenCate Trading Update relating to the second quarter of 2009

    Net profit second quarter well over € 13 million

    • TenCate remains well within bank covenants

    In advance of the publication of the half-year figures on Wednesday 26 August 2009 and on the basis of provisional results, it is announced that net profit for the second quarter fell back by approximately 26% compared with the second quarter of 2008. With a stringent cost reduction policy and a tight liquidity management, as of 30 June 2009 TenCate remained well within the covenants agreed with the banks. The debt / EBITDA ratio improved compared to the previous quarter to approximately 2.5 (covenant 3.0).

    TenCate selected by ATK for American Centrifuge Program

    TenCate Advanced Composites USA announces that Alliant Techsystems (ATK) in Minneapolis (Minnesota, USA) has selected TenCate as a composite prepreg material supplier for the manufacture of composite rotor tubes used in USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon (Ohio, USA). The materials will be manufactured in the TenCate Advanced Composites facilities in Northern California (USA). Sales as a result of this supply agreement will start as from 2010, provided USEC Inc. receives DOE (Department of Energy) debt funding for the project.

    TenCate sells non-strategic associated company in Australia

    Royal Ten Cate (TenCate) and Noel P Hunt International Limited have reached agreement on the takeover of the TenCate 50% interest in the joint venture Geofabrics Australasia Pty Ltd of Cheltenham (Australia). The takeover price of the shares amounts to AUD 40 million (approximately € 23 million). The book profit on the sale of the 50% interest amounts to approximately € 11 million and will be incorporated in the half-year figures of TenCate.

    TenCate receives Dutch army order for composite armour panels for Patria vehicles in Afghanistan

    TenCate Advanced Armour has been awarded a contract by the Dutch Ministry of Defence for the delivery of TenCate Ceratego™ composite armour panels for the Dutch Patria XA-188 vehicles that currently are deployed in Afghanistan. The TenCate Ceratego™ engineered product is a lightweight composite vehicle armour, minimizing the added weight to the vehicle.

    TenCate composite reduces Solar Team Twente’s solar car frame weight by 29 percent and air resistance by 25 percent

    Today, Solar Team Twente will present its high-tech solar car with which this team of Dutch students will start in October the 10th World Solar Challenge through Australia. For the construction of this solar car, TenCate has provided several composite materials. Thanks to these materials, Solar Team Twente succeeded in reducing the weight of the frame with more than 29 percent. Beside that, the team realized a 25 percent less air resistance, also because this material can be easily processed and very smoothly finished. These advantages must contribute to a high speed of this red solar car. TenCate has also sponsored the team with protective fabrics for their flame-resistant red overalls and flame-retardant red tents.
