International Advisory Board visits Primarette
The members of the TenCate International Advisory Board (IAB) were guests at the facility of TenCate Advanced Armour in Primarette (France) on Tuesday, 24 April. The programme for the day included a tour of the production company and an exchange of views with the management.
Guests and hosts in Primarette: from right to left Wilfred Sluyter, Kees Blekxtoon, Loek de Vries, Dick Berlijn, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, Steen Tanderup, Helle Specht and Frank Spaan.
The International Advisory Board (IAB) is the strategic and supporting advisory body to the Executive Board.
TenCate Advanced Armour France manufactures materials and systems (armour kits) for vehicle armour and for applications in the aerospace market. Steen Tanderup (right) has the responsibility for the armour activities of TenCate in Europe. He provided information about the activities of TenCate in this field.
The new production company in Primarette for aircraft armour systems attracted particular attention, as this is a completely new TenCate activity. This is where knowledge relating to aerospace composites and armour materials comes together. This new activity will start to make a major contribution to armour activities from 2012.
Dick Berlijn (middle) remarked that a visit to this factory changes one’s image of TenCate. TenCate can present itself specifically as a partner to the defence forces. ‘Such a high-end process and a solution-oriented end product are not usually associated with a company that is still known by many people as a manufacturer of technical textiles.’
TenCate Advanced Armour is now looking beyond its traditional markets. A company has for example been started up together with TenCate Protective Fabrics USA in India: TenCate Protective Systems. There are also initiatives underway in the Middle East and Singapore.
