Summer 2011

Cruyff Foundation 14 years

In 2011 the Johan Cruyff Foundation will celebrate its fourteenth anniversary. One of the initiatives of the Foundation is the building of Cruyff Courts. Some 140 courta have so far been installed. TenCate has been involved in this since its inception through its social involvement as a partner and supplier of synthetic turf fibres.

In 2003 the Johan Cruyff Foundation built the first Cruyff Court in the world in Lelystad (NL). A Cruyff Court is the modern version of the vacant plots of land on which youngsters used to kick a ball around. TenCate, as partner from the very start, supports the objectives of the Johan Cruyff Foundation: to provide children with a durable, safe place to play sports, and to promote sporting and social integration. TenCate has developed the durable, wear-resistant TenCate XP Blade™ fibre specially for pitches that are subjected to intensive play like the Cruyff Courts. This has proved to be the most distinctive in terms of durability, characteristics and appearance.
