Chemical group opts for TenCate fabrics
TenCate Protective Fabrics is to supply TenCate Tecasafe® Plus fabrics for the protective clothing of employees of Arkema. This relates to an order for a total of 23,000 items of clothing. The 60,000 metres of fabric that are required for this will be made into items of clothing by garment maker Mulliez-Flory. The decisive factors in reaching the supply agreement were the level of protection, wearer comfort and end-user marketing.
The French group, the former chemical division of Total, is not unfamiliar with TenCate. Over the past five years they have used TenCate Tecasafe® XA 9001 for their protective clothing and this to their entire satisfaction. The initial talks relating to the new tender were held with the purchasing and safety departments in the first half of 2013.
The order is for a total of 23,000 garments, corresponding to 60 kilometres of TenCate Tecasafe® Plus. Meanwhile 35,000 metres of this fabric have already been delivered to Mulliez-Flory. This French garment maker will provide a large number of Arkema facilities with 10,000 units of protective clothing in early September 2014. In the fourth quarter of this year the fabrics will be delivered for a second series of garments.
TenCate Tecasafe® Plus meets a number of European NEN-EN-ISO and North American NFPA heat- and flame-retardant standards for industrial use, which makes this fabric of particular interest to companies with international operations.
