In 2004 the first J-nose sections, sixteen large components totalling 52 metres in length, were delivered to Airbus. An almost fully welded thermoplastic composite structure – at that time a groundbreaking design where the rivets commonly used in the aircraft industry were virtually absent.
The guests from Hoogeveen praised ‘the excellent cooperation’ between the two companies. On behalf of Fokker, Emiel Knegt (procurement manager composite materials from Fokker) thanked all the TenCate employees for their dedicated work. ‘Together we ensured that even in difficult circumstances delivery to our end customer Airbus was always on time.’
