TenCate has entered into an agreement to purchase a minority share in Hellas Construction Inc. (Austin, Texas, USA). The transaction was finalized yesterday. Hellas’ main activity is the construction and installation of synthetic turf fields and running tracks in North America and is a valuable contribution to the TenCate strategic concept of value chain management in the synthetic turf market.
Hellas Construction is a leading company in the North American market for sports fields and running tracks. Its business model includes turf manufacturing, base construction, installation and maintenance of sports fields, running tracks and tennis courts. The Hellas company controls all necessary business processes to take its products straight to the end-user including marketing & sales, quality control and project management.
It is the intention to form a close relation between TenCate and Hellas to continue providing a superior synthetic turf product and sports surfaces to the North American market. TenCate provides research & development, the highest grade turf backings and complementary carpet manufacturing to Hellas.
Value chain management
TenCate synthetic turf components are supplied worldwide to many prominent suppliers and producers of synthetic turf systems. Cooperation within the value chain leads to greater quality control by all the parties involved in the development process, resulting in integral quality assurance. This is fully in line with the system approach advocated by TenCate. TenCate Grass thus gives a general impetus to further improvements in the playing characteristics and durability of synthetic turf systems.
