Padel is a racquet sport played extensively in Southern Europe and Latin America. It is played on courts about half the size of a tennis court. The balls used and the scoring is the same as tennis. The biggest difference is that the court has walls and the balls can be played off them in a similar way as in the game of squash.
Today, it is expected more than 1500 padel courts per annum will be installed in Spain. Contrary to other sports, the past decades no significant developments in quality or playability of padel systems have been made.
That’s why TenCate Grass together with Technograss decided that the time is there to introduce a new system with increased playability, durability and looks. TenCate has tested the system thoroughly and Technograss found a high profile location to install the first system.
Recently Technograss S.A. has installed a new, revolutionary padel court at the tennis and padel club “Real Club de Tenis López Maeso” in Madrid. Real Club de Tenis López Maeso is an exclusive private tennis and padel club located in Madrid. Mr. López Maeso is a former Spanish tennis professional and is currently a TV reporter for tennis matches. According to him and members of his club the playability of the new system is excellent. The ball bounce is perfect, the touch of the carpet is soft and it is easy to maintain. Also the installers of Technograss were happy, because the new system is much easier to install.
The carpet is tufted with the highest possible density and the use of TenCate Tapeslide™ XP turf blades results in an extreme leap forward in synthetic turf durability and playability. TenCate Tapeslide™ XP turf blades are manufactured through a proprietary process; the turf blades does not split and make it the right choice for the highest use fields.
