Stockport-based FA Charter Standard Community Club, Reddish North End FC have invested in two bespoke playing surfaces, designed and manufactured by leading artificial turf manufacturer, TigerTurf UK.
Tendered and won under the Football Association (FA), Football Foundation (FF) and Rugby Football Union (RFU)’s collaborative Framework agreement, the installation of the main pitch and secondary multi use games area was constructed by specialist sports contractor; McArdle Sport Tec Ltd.
Having been fitted with TigerTurf Soccer Real 60 XQ, the new 51m x 79m pitch boasts an elite level third generation playing surface, which is backed by FIFA 1 and 2 star accreditation and comprises two unique profiled fibres; part-filled with rubber and sand.
A second 37m x 18.5m area was also installed at the club’s home, the Mike Doyle Centre, fitted with TigerTurf Football 60 XP Pro – a third generation playing surface with high wear and low maintenance properties. As part of the £450k project, McArdle Sport Tec Ltd enhanced the new playing surfaces with the addition of perimeter fencing, hard standing areas, floodlights, piped drainage, swing-out freestanding goalposts, mowing strip, access paths, and detox areas. Thanks to TigerTurf and McArdle’s collaborative flexible design approach, the 15 week project was successfully completed 11 days ahead of schedule despite the wettest UK winter on record.
John Hargreaves, Chairman at Reddish North End FC said: “Everyone at the club is over the moon with our new playing surfaces, which will give each of our teams from under 7’s through to under 17’s access to some of the best playing facilities in the region.
“The standard of work carried out by McArdle and TigerTurf was exceptional from start to finish, even in spite of some particularly challenging weather conditions, and we always had full confidence in the level of expertise and guidance we were offered throughout.” With both pitches having now been successfully installed, Reddish North End FC has planned an official grand opening, which is set to take place at the venue in April.
