Artificial grass supplier GreenFields, artificial grass producer TenCate and construction company Heijmans created a completely new artificial grass system at the Kyocera Stadium, home of Dutch premier league team ADO Den Haag, in just two weeks. The artificial grass system was approved by the Royal Dutch Football Association, KNVB, on Monday 21 October and delivered two days later.
ADO Den Haag will be able to play at home against FC Twente on Saturday 26 October on a new artificial grass system based on the TenCate Evolution™ fibre. It took only two weeks to lay the artificial grass pitch at the Kyocera Stadium. The team selected by coach Maurice Steijn was able to train again at the stadium for the first time on Wednesday 23 October. After training, both team and coach said they were very happy with the new pitch.
TenCate Grass is developer and manufacturer of the artificial grass fibres, while GreenFields supplies and installs the artificial grass system. Main contractor Heijmans created the substructure. Excellent collaboration between the three companies and both the city of The Hague and ADO Den Haag resulted in the new pitch being laid with record speed. Stretching a cover above the field made it possible to work at night and in bad weather. As a result, approval by the KNVB took place two days earlier than planned.
Hugo de Vries, business development director of GreenFields: “This is really a joint achievement of the highest quality. It has also turned out to be a top-quality pitch, thanks to the nature of the substructure, the shock-absorbing layer on top, especially designed for sports, and the high-quality artificial grass using the TenCate Evolution™ fibre, which has proved its worth in professional football worldwide.”
After the 2013-2014 football season, GreenFields, TenCate and Heijmans will create a GreenFields® TX artificial grass system for the 2014 hockey World Cup at the Kyocera Stadium and at the temporary GreenFields stadium adjacent to it.
