  • Reinforced piled embankment in Antwerp

To build a new refinery unit at the site of an oil refinery in Antwerp, a temporary road had to be constructed. Specific problems had to be solved due to the size 27m long, 20m high and the  weight 1.400 tons of the element . There will be several transports driving the temporary road, however the most decisive, is a transport with a load of 80KPa. The road will be used for 1 year, after which the structure will be removed.

  • Reinforced piled embankment on Road 383, Sweden

The connecting road between Vibbyn and Flarken in the region of Luleå (northern Sweden) rests on a soft unstable subgrade. Over time this has led to dangerous situations for road users and the road has even been closed several times a year because of flooding. The time had come to stabilize and reinforce the base course, but then without disturbing the nature. Road 383 runs through a nature reserve and over natural waterways, so every attention has been given to preserving the natural environment.

  • Retaining walls in the Czech Republic

In Kunice and Benešov (Central Bohemia, Czech Republic) TenCate Geosynthetics has been involved in two projects where TenCate Miragrid® GX has been applied. • Retaining wall in Austria

Mountainous (alpine) areas account for more than half of Austria, so motorways and other civil engineering structures in these regions are faced with a substantial number of natural hazards, such as avalanches, ground displacements, mudflows and falling rocks. These can damage, block and undermine roads. Still, retaining walls reinforced with TenCate geosynthetics prove a godsend as a rule when it comes to repairing and preventing the consequences − as two recent projects go to show.

  • Vertical wall, reinforced soil with geogrid, Sweden

When the postal office should increase their office in Barkarby, Stockholm, it was decided to use geogrids to create a solution which gave them a larger parking area on top of the wall. TenCate made a pre-design of the wall for the designer with given data, height of the wall, soil condition below the foundation, what type of soil to use in the wall and what forces that should be allowed on top of the wall. In the design it was pre-decided to use gabion baskets for facing. TenCate supplied the project with geogrid Miragrid GX 110/30 and Polyfelt TS geotextile and GEOTECHNIK-Bau supplied the gabions. The wall was erected by GEOTECHNIK-Bau.
