The community centre itself, complete with synthetic turf system, lighting, water management and other high-quality facilities, is already a showcase of sustainable innovation. More than that: it is precisely thanks to modern technologies that the centre is economically and financially feasible. Technological innovation is at the heart of sustainable development and drives progress. That is why it is vital that innovations also find their way to disadvantaged areas. TenCate Field in a box™ is an example of this process in action.
Innovative technologies and sustainable modules are applied in the construction of the playing field. A range of systems are available, including a system with the TenCate Accorder™ stabilisation layer. This provides a reduction of 65% in CO2 emissions during transport and installation compared to traditional groundwork systems. Thanks to the efficient construction, the synthetic turf system can be transported and delivered in a single container. For traditional systems, three or four containers are required. Much less land needs to be excavated during laying and local materials such as sand, gravel, debris and/or laterite can be used as filling.
Another solution is TenCate Ecocept™. This structure can reuse a total of approximately 14 tonnes of end-of-life plastics and rubber. A third solution, GreenSource™, makes it possible to filter and reuse local, contaminated or pumped water.
TenCate Field in a box™ offers a wide range of sustainable modules, all of which stem from a responsible vision that provides an optimal life cycle and a reasonable price tag.
