ABDS: Legislative Update

Successful tests with the Dutch and German Ministries of Defense were bolstered by an overwhelmingly positive test run by the U.S. Army at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds this past March.  As the system proved itself technically – efforts were underway to utilize existing support on Capitol Hill. Key House Members and Senators have been briefed on the technology for several years now, and in 2015 a core of interested lawmakers sponsored language in the Fiscal Year 2016 National Defense Authorization Act. The language, included in the bill report of the NDAA, requires that the Army brief Congress early next year on the status of testing for Underbody Blast Technologies (read: ABDS) and its future plans for implementation and fielding of those technologies. Along with leadership from TenCate Advanced Armor, the Office of Public and Government Relations has worked to build support for ABDS™ through countless hill meetings, updates and briefings.
