TenCate Tecasafe Plus surpasses million yard global sales milestone

TenCate Tecasafe™ Plus, a leading flame-resistant fabric for protective garments, has passed the one-million-yard milestone in global sales only two years after its introduction in North America. That high-tech material was originally developed in Europe and was – based on specific market requirements – modified to the American market. This end-user approach has become a tremendous success. For the current year TenCate Protective Fabrics has positive expectations, because employee safety and protection is still high on the international agenda.  Engineered as a more durable and comfortable alternative to many industrial flame-resistant fabrics, TenCate Tecasafe™ Plus is sold in North America, South America, Asia, Europe and Australia. The fabric now protects workers at such companies as Conoco Phillips, British Petroleum (BP), Petronas, Petrobras, Land O’ Lakes, Birdseye, Pike Electric, and Duke Power.  Garment manufacturers value the performance and popularity of TenCate Tecasafe™ Plus. “Tecasafe™ Plus has been the most successful new fabric adoption we have ever seen in our business” says Stan Jewell, Vice President of Bulwark Protective Apparel, a division of VF Imagewear. “To reach one million yards in a little over two years is a significant milestone in the FR market.” Wearers of protective garments need reliable flame resistance, as well as comfort, durability and affordability, says Elliad Granger, marketing manager at TenCate Protective Fabrics. “Before we introduced TenCate Tecasafe™ Plus in North America, there were no real options that provided all these features without compromise. The speedy adoption of this product and the one million yard milestone are testaments to this fact.” Introduced two years ago, TenCate Tecasafe™ Plus has gained international market share by coupling these features with unbeatable electric arc and flash fire protection, Elliad Granger adds. The fabric is available in a wide range of colours including High Visibility Yellow for linemen, highway workers and Wildlands fire fighters. TenCate Tecasafe™ Plus is part of the comprehensive line of flame-resistant fabrics of TenCate for industrial, emergency response, fire fighting and military apparel. It meets and exceeds the following protection standards: NFPA 2112, NFPA 70E HRC 2, ASTM F 1506, ANSI 107, CGSB 155.20, EN 531, CSA Z96, NFPA 1975, NFPA 1977.
