Geotube® Marine Structures

Homeowner Overview

Protect Your Shoreline Property and Stop Beach Erosion

After recent storms, thousands of shoreline homes are in danger from erosion.  Many of these may not last through the next storm.  But there is a simple solution:  TenCate Geotube® geocontainment technology.  In fact, TenCate Geotube® technology has been purchased and installed by many homeowners to protect their property and build up shorelines.  And it's proven in installations the world over.

What Is It?  -- TenCate Geotube® geocontainment technology uses a specially engineered textile tube to contain sand and soil, and to prevent erosion.  It resists the strongest storms and protects homeowners' property.  A single system can protect several homes.  In many cases, homeowners have worked together to get the protection they need and to reduce their costs.  Homeowner associations can help coordinate efforts between members for proper shoreline protection using geocontainment technology.

The Process Is Simple.  --  A TenCate Geotube® Shoreline Protection System, comprised of a large tube made of a specially engineered textile filled with sand and buried under the beach, can be installed in less than one month.  Once installed, the TenCate Geotube® container is completely buried, and helps contribute to a gently sloping shoreline.  When rough weather threatens, the tube holds the sand and soil in place, preventing erosion and property damage.  In most cases the installation is permanent -- and virtually invisible.

Emergency Permitting.  --  In many coastal areas, temporary permits are now in place that allow immediate installation of TenCate Geotube® geocontainment technology to protect homes that are in danger.  The TenCate Geotube® Shoreline Protection System has qualified for installation under emergency permitting allowed for repairing storm damage.
