TenCate Geosynthetics delivers strong performance with innovations and projects
19 December 2011
TenCate Geosynthetics is delivering a strong performance globally, with approximately 15% organic sales growth to date. This strong performance is the result of the introduction of new products, as well as a growing need for sustainable environmental concepts, water management and marine solutions. These new products are in response to developments in the markets for soil stabilization and soil reinforcement. Market opportunities are considerable.
The Geosynthetics group employs a strategy focused among other things on product development and a solution-driven market approach. The TenCate Geotube® and TenCate GeoDetect™ systems in particular are gaining momentum, now that end-users are showing ever greater interest in CO2-friendly, sustainable environmental solutions and detection systems (leakage, erosion and deformation control). This is a trend that can be observed globally.
Patented geosynthetic innovation
TenCate Geosynthetics has developed a patented, woven geosynthetic for soil stabilization and reinforcement applications. This new – woven – product in the TenCate Mirafi® portfolio offers special characteristics which enhance its functionalities relating to separation, filtration and drainage capabilities.
Major environmental project in Hong Kong
A number of large-scale environmental projects using TenCate Geotube® technology have recently been awarded to TenCate Geosynthetics. One of these is the Kai Tak project, which is being carried out next to the former Hong Kong Kai Tak International Airport. Following two successful trials with TenCate Geotube®, a start was made in mid-December 2011 on the removal and remediation of 140,000 m3 of contaminated sludge, employing this technology. TenCate is supplying a large number of TenCate Geotube® containers for this project, which will be finished by the end of June, 2012.
