In May 2010, TenCate Geosynthetics North America introduced TenCate Mirafi® RS580i, the first integrated geosynthetic developed exclusively for roadway reinforcement. The engineer, when reviewing the subgrade conditions, realized that additional excavation would need to be done or a stabilization geosynthetic would need to be used. Approximately 6 acres of parking lots for a commercial office complex in Maine needed to be rebuilt.
The existing parking areas to be rebuilt were in poor condition due to high moisture content in the subgrade soils and years of frost heaving from extensive freeze thaw conditions during the severe Maine winters.

Mirafi® RS580i Stabilizes Soft Subgrade Allowing Road Construction without Expense of Relocating Existing Utilities
NC A&T University needed to replace two sections of roads running through the campus. The road replacements were part of a larger renovation project. When locating existing utilities, several including fiber optics, gas lines and water lines were located within 2 feet of the road surface.
