In order to develop perfect artificial turf and anticipate the way it will be experienced, our product development relies heavily on the input of users. Person-oriented product development: pitches are developed on the basis of the requirements of the sportsmen and women who use them. To make these experiences measurable, special testing methods have been developed. These enable researchers to convert users’ perceptions into measurable values. This research involves not only the fiber, but also the whole system of the artificial turf pitch. In other words, other components, such as the sand and the rubber infill and the surface and backing of the turf, are also taken into consideration.
