Geotube® dewatering technology was developed in conjunction with the US Army Corp of Engineers. During containment of fine grain sludge, hazardous contaminated soils, or dredged waste material, Geotube® dewatering technology allows excess water to drain through small pores in the geotextiles. The result is effective dewatering and efficient volume reduction of the contained material. The run-off water from the dewatering process can be reused or returned to native waterways. This process of containment and dewatering can happen repeatedly.
After the final containment and dewatering cycle, the retained fine grained materials in the Geotube® brand geotextile tubes continue to consolidate by desiccation, which allows residual water vapor to escape through the small pores of the geotextile. The captured solids in the Geotube® container can now be disposed of properly.
Geotube® dewatering technology adds to the expediency of a project, while providing an environmentally clean and cost-effective solution to handling dredge material. It can take place on site and without interruption to industrial processes.
