TenCate Defense and Tactical is a global business unit of TenCate Protective Fabrics USA, the largest supplier of inherently flame resistant fabric in the world. By combining aggressive research and development, rigorous product testing and state-of-the-art patented manufacturing processes, TenCate stays at the forefront of industry innovation. The appearance of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Iraq and Afghanistan necessitated a more protective yet comfortable military uniform fabric that diminished the consequences of explosions and fuel fires. In 2006, TenCate responded to this need by inventing TenCate Defender™ M, an inherently flame resistant fabric that was quickly recognized as the superior fabric solution for both the Fire Resistant Army Combat Uniform (FR-ACU) and the Marine Corp’s Flame Resistant Organizational Gear (FROG) programs.

TenCate Defense and Tactical is also in trial with multiple other military uniform programs.

TenCate Defense and Tactical also produces TenCate Aramid for high-risk flame environment, such as flight suits, as well as Tecasafe Plus, a lower heat, flame resistant fabric for alternative, non-combat military uses.
